BMW Championship 2026 | Round 1 Matchups - Bankroll Build Day 6
Thursday, August 20, 2026
Three R1 matchup plays for the BMW Championship, all where the stat gaps and course fit are wider than the pricing suggests.
R1 Matchup: Si Woo Kim -114 over Hideki Matsuyama (DraftKings)
Si Woo ranks 3rd overall this week vs Hideki 11th, but the real story is course fit. Si Woo ranks 4th in comp courses while Hideki ranks 44th. That's a 40-spot gap on the single most relevant category. Si Woo also holds advantages in BoB% (#2 vs #16), weighted approach (#3 vs #7), weighted T2G (#2 vs #10), and fescue rough (#5 vs #14).
His season SG tee-to-green (1.38) trails only Scheffler in this field. Hideki is an elite player, but his comp course and long course profiles (#44 in both) suggest this venue doesn't suit his game the way it suits Si Woo's. Getting them at identical pricing is the cherry on top.
R1 Matchup: Russell Henley -130 over Jacob Bridgeman (DraftKings)
Henley wins the stat comparison 9-1. He ranks 3rd in comp courses, 2nd in bogey avoidance, 3rd in weighted putting, 8th on fast greens, and 11th in weighted T2G. Bridgeman sits at 48th in comp courses, 45th in weighted T2G, and 40th in weighted approach.
Henley's season SG profile shows a player who gains strokes in every major category (0.56 T2G, 0.45 putting) while carrying the 2nd-best bogey avoidance rate in the field, meaning he protects his scorecard on a course where avoiding mistakes matters. The stat gap here is about as wide as you'll find in a 50-man playoff field.
R1 Matchup: Ryan Gerard -106 over Min Woo Lee (DraftKings)
Gerard wins 10-0 across course-relevant stats, and the putting surface mismatch is the headliner: Gerard ranks #1 in bent putting, Min Woo Lee ranks #50 (dead last). On fast greens it's #6 vs #43. Comp courses #17 vs #50.
Gerard also gains 0.22 strokes putting on the season on bent grass while carrying a solid overall SG profile (0.72 total). Min Woo Lee's weighted approach (#49), comp courses (#50), and bent putting (#50) make this a terrible course fit. Getting near pick'em on the player with the best bent grass putting in the field against the worst is a massive edge.
